Briefing Information

YOU MUST BE 18 YEARS OR OLDER TO COMPLETE THIS STUDY

Dear Participant

This study is part of my Masters course in Health Psychology at the University of Central Lancashire. I am interested in looking at the influence of interpersonal behaviour on male and female athletes and exercisers in relation to exercise addiction and muscle dysmorphia. Should you agree to take part in my study, you will be asked to complete the following:

• Demographics and Personal Information: (e.g, ethnicity, age, height, weight)

• Scale of Interpersonal Behaviour (SIB): Assesses difficulty in assertiveness.

• Exercise Dependence Scale-21: Used to identify those at risk of exercise addiction.

• Muscle Dysmorphic Disorder Inventory (MDDI): Perceptions of how you think, feel or behave regarding one's own body image.

For the questionnaires, please be honest and fill in the first response that comes to mind. No names will be taken so the questionnaire will be completely anonymous. Once you have come to the end of the study, you will be able to submit your questionnaires. You have the right to withdraw from the study up until this point. After this it will not be possible to withdraw, as the responses are anonymous and cannot be traced to any participant.

Thank you for your time.
