Purpose of the Study: This is a study on benefits of adopting best practices from Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL), specifically benefits of service catalogue management process. The study is being conducted by Anand Ramakrishnan (Email: reachanandr@gmail.com; LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/anandrk/) as part of his doctoral research at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), Hyderabad, India (http://www.jntuh.ac.in/new/) and mentored by Dr. B. Krishna Reddy, Dean, Faculty of Management, Osmania University, Hyderabad, India (http://www.ou-mba.ac.in/faculty-new.html). This survey has been approved by Dr. Reddy and he can be reached at drbkrishnareddy@yahoo.co.in or +91-40-27097481.
What will be done: You will complete a survey, which will take 10-12 minutes to complete. The survey includes questions about your organization's usage of IT service catalogue and your perceptions of benefits from its adoption.
Why is this study needed: Over the past 3 decades ITIL has become the de-facto reference framework for IT Service Management. Version 3 of ITIL released in 2007 called out Service Catalogue Management as a separate process. Gartner's 2013 Hype Cycle for IT Operations Management says IT service catalogue tools are at the peak. Per Educause CDS Summary Report 2012, 31% of US colleges have adopted service catalogue or service portfolio management. While there are numerous case studies on ITIL benefits, many researchers still consider this space as 'under-researched'. Your response will help improve public domain knowledge on benefits of service catalogue management. After completing this study, this researcher will publish findings in publicly accessible website/journals. At the end of this survey, you can also opt-in for results to be emailed to you.
Confidentiality: Survey does NOT ask for your name. Email address, name of your organization and a link to your catalogue, if publicly accessible are optional. Researcher is responsible to keep your responses completely confidential.
Decision to quit at any time: Your participation is voluntary. You are free to withdraw your participation from this study at any time.
Contact information: If you have concerns or questions about this study, please contact Anand Ramakrishnan at reachanandr@gmail.com or phone # +1 260-255-6677.
