Perceptions of gender in organisations

You are being invited to take part in this research study. It is important for you to understand why the research is being undertaken and what it will involve. Please take time to read the following information carefully.

Why is this study being carried out? Data collection for MSc (Occupational Psychology) at the University of Worcester, UK.

Why have you been chosen? A wide sample of participants is the goal, where the only inclusions are older than 18 years of age and employed, but not self employed.

Do you have to take part? You can decide whether or not you want to take part. If you do decide to take part, you will be providing consent by clicking forward on this survey. After such time, however you are free to withdraw at any time without reason.  In order to do so your email address would be required, this would remain separate from your data.

What does it involve and how long will it take? You will be required to complete a series of questions on the person you directly report to, measuring perceptions of gender in the workplace. Completion of this questionnaire should take no more than 10 minutes.

How will I benefit from this study? Although you might not benefit directly, it is hoped findings on such an important matter could have important ramifications for the future of gender in organisations and allow you to get a taste of some contemporary psychological research.

CONSENT STATEMENTS
1. I understand that my participation is voluntary.


2. I understand I have the right to decline answering specific questions by leaving the survey at any point whilst completing the questionnaire. 


3. I am aware of what participation involves and I am over the age of 18.


4. My data are to be held anonymously, including place of work and only Victoria Stephens, along with her supervisor Dr Catherine Steele (c.steele@worc.ac.uk) based in the University of Worcester will have access to the data.


5. My data will be kept securely, until finished with when it will be disposed of in an secure and appropriate manner.


6. In accordance with some scientific journals my coded data may be shared with other competent researchers. My name, place of work and other identifying details will not be shared with anyone.


7. The overall findings may be submitted for publication in a scientific journal, or presented at a scientific conference.


8. This study will take approximately 6 months to complete.


9. I will be able to obtain general information about the results of this research by contacting the researcher Victoria Stephens (stev1_08@uni.worc.ac.uk) after July 2012.


10. I will be give details of suitable sources of information and support if I feel I have been affected by any issues raised in this study.
